Life goes on by

Oct 30,2019 – I came to NYC to close a chapter. A year ago I was just at the same time in the city with my best friend and soulmate, not knowing that he’ll be taken in a couple of weeks. I was running my 4th Marathon which was a big challenge and effort.

The year ended and even though R wasn’t feeling to good, he was making plans for the coming. Nov 6, 2018 was the last time I saw him, Jan 5, 2020 the cancer completed his brutal work.

At the beginning of this year I saw me struggling a lot with the thought of “ever run a marathon again” and although I signed up for London, which I did not run for many reasons, I couldn’t find my way back into running.

As the year moved on, the wounds healed, I wasn’t so devastated any more and new people came into my life! Beside my known friends, who helped me a lot, those were “angels” send.

That girl I worked with, who had no idea about Marathon distance but signed up anyway, some runner communities I joined, a corporate challenge …. all that got me back on my goal of completing the majors soon.

I got a lottery entry for Berlin and started my training. Lots of traveling and workshops kept me busy, so that I wasn’t in my best condition when I got to run the Berlin marathon. Beside that it was raining and brutal cold. Here I met a runner fellow from the NY Team for Kids community. The 2 of us completed the race together and made the confession to do that same thing in NY just 4 weeks later.

Coming to the city, especially for the marathon is a very special thing and so I flew in with many mixed emotions. What can I say – from the very first moment I felt so welcome and appreciated by the city that my “cloudy thoughts” got washed away. “My Girl” from Germany arrived a day later and we had an amazing time before – during – and after the marathon. My runner buddy from Berlin checked in and we ran this race together, facing many ups and downs along the course. My runner friends from Germany were also there and supported me in such a loving and caring way! I cannot Thank all of you enough!

Finishing this 5th TCSNYC Marathon was really about closing a chapter while starting a complete new on!

I will be back❣️
